Looking for something to do this weekend? This is your definitive guide which will come every week, telling you what’s happening this weekend. As you know, this can range from one off events, long running events, or just cool places or good clubs to visit.
If you’re looking to get your geek on, then what better place than the Star Wars Celebration at the Excel Centre?
“There has never been a more exciting time to be a Star Wars fan, and Star Wars Celebration Europe in London, UK will bring fans of all ages together, from all around the world, to celebrate the pop culture phenomenon that is Star Wars — all on the cusp of new Star Wars movies and television shows! Looking ahead, while celebrating all that has come before, there’s something for everyone at Star Wars Celebration!”
Tickets are, as you might expect, very limited. This event is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but tickets are sold out for the Saturday.
They cost £30, so get them, and more info, here.
If you’re into your metal, it might be worth paying a visit to the legendary Devonshire Arms (just The Dev these days) for some live bands.
This is on Saturday night, with bands starting at 8pm. Entry is free.
South London Scum https://www.facebook.com/southlondonscum/
presents a Hazarder leaving the UK party:
(London’s best Balkans anarchermeticistic doom/sludge)

If you’re after some night life but are more into your indie, soul, and pop then you might want to check out Blow Up at the St Moritz club near Tottenham Court Road station.
“Expect to hear classic tracks from both Blow Up’s past and present: from Brit Pop era favourites (the scene which the club helped kick-start way back in 1993 in Camden Town) to the current new Pop & indie stylists putting the art back into pop colliding with 60’s Soul, Beat, Garage, Funk, Ska, Swinging Soundtracks, Hammond Heavy Jazz, Easy Listening & Ye-Ye! Brit Pop, Glam & Post Punk / New Wave will all be present and correct.”
Tickets are £5 on the door, or you can buy them in advance. Get the details here.
Cider drinker? Then we have just the thing for you coming up next with Ciderdog. (Is that a play on words from Cyberdog? Probably.)
This is pretty much what it says on the tin, with a huge range of ciders, perrys and ales available at The Miller on Saturday.
There’s also a BBQ, DJs, a steel band, pingpong and giant Connect Four. It’s free, so get more information here.
Next up is something for animal lovers, and probably something good for the family as well. Tired of zoos? It might be worth checking out the Lambeth Country Show at Brockwell Park on Saturday.
“Now in its 42nd year and organised by EventLambeth, the show has all the attractions of a traditional country fair plus much more. Horticultural shows, sheep dog & owl displays, home grown vegetable and flower competitions, numerous craft & food stalls and our very own on site farm will be there for all to enjoy. All this will be on offer and more with a distinctively urban south London vibe.”
Entry is free, but they will be collecting donations to keep the event running. Get more details here.
Summer is in full swing, so why not make the most of the weather with the Summer Knees Up?
“Following the success of the 2015 Summer Knees Up, we’re bringing it back in 2016 and this time it will be bigger and better! With live entertainment, stalls, games and fun for the whole family, it’s an event not to be missed.”
“Bring the whole family and enjoy our games with the chance to win great prizes: Splat the rat – Hook a Duck – Crack the Safe – Hoopla – Bottle Tombola. Big thanks to the Dalston Darlings WI for once again taking over our Time for Tea party tent serving homemade cakes and hot & cold drinks. We are also very grateful to Percy Ingle for donating fresh cakes!”
This is on Sunday at London Fields, and is free. Find more info here.
That’s it for this week, but have a lovely weekend!
