Looking for something to do this weekend? This is your definitive guide which will come every week, telling you what’s happening this weekend. As you know, this can range from one off events, long running events, or just cool places or good clubs to visit.
We all know that it’s Chocolate Week this week, so let’s begin with The Chocolate Show, taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Olympia. You can find out more about The Chocolate Show here, visit their official website here and get tickets here. Tickets are pretty cheap at £12 for an adult and £8 for a child.
There is also a new cocktail bar opening this time, but you may recognise the people doing it. The guys over at Night Tales who do Shoreditch’s pop-up market are now trying their hand at a permanent cocktail bar. They had already been doing a pop-up one, but now they’re getting serious.
You can get food from 8am-4pm, with cocktails, live music and guest DJs. This bar is opening today, and can be found at 207 Netil House, 1 Westgate Street, E8 3RL.
For a little culture, we have Kensington Open Spaces taking place over the entire weekend; Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Essentially, artists across Kensington and Fulham are opening the doors to visitors, allowing them a unique look at where they work. You can also buy jewellery, prints, photography, paintings and more. This takes place at various locations, so check out the website here.
For some nightlife, we have Fabric’s sixteenth birthday weekend. The main event seems to be on Friday, with a variety of DJs and acts spread across two rooms. For a look at what’s taking place at Fabric this weekend, take a look here. Tickets for the main event are here but very limited, so act fast.
There’s also the release of Pan this weekend, and naturally this is showing all across the country. This releases on Friday, so you should probably go on Saturday or Sunday to beat the release crowd, but expect it to still be pretty busy. This stars Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Amanda Seyfried. View some listings here, or simply check out your local cinema.
Next up we have the Finger in the Pie Cabaret showcase, which is “London’s largest showcase of new Drag, Burlesque and Variety.” This show is taking place at the famous Royal Vauxhall Tavern on Friday and has a nice variety of performances. Take a look at the performers here, and get tickets here. They’re pretty cheap in advance at only £10, or £12 on the door.
As per tradition, we’ll finish up with the alternative events taking place this weekend.
There’s not many metal gigs taking place this weekend, but we do have goth legends Sisters of Mercy playing on Sunday, with Black Moth opening the show. This gig is taking place at the Roundhouse, with tickets fairly pricey at £33.40 including fees. Get tickets here.
There’s also punk legends Anti Nowhere League playing at the O2 Academy Islington on Saturday. This is a much cheaper gig at £16.50, so get here.
For something a bit more chilled, there is the Blackout Club at The Underworld in Camden. This is taking place on Friday, and you need to get yourself on the guestlist for cheap £5 entry. Drinks are cheap (especially for London) at £2.50, and there seems to be a wide variety of music. Get more info here.
