Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, came out as gay last year. Now, he has spoken with The Late Show host Stephen Colbert on his decision to come out.
According to what Tim told Stephen, he made the move out of social responsibility.
Stephen approached the topic with humour, quipping: “Was that an upgrade or just a feature that had not been turned on before?”
Tim’s response was well thought out, and touched on the topic of doing something for others: “It became so clear to me that kids were getting bullied in school, kids were getting basically discriminated against, kids were even being disclaimed by their own parents, and that I needed to dothat where I valued my privacy significantly, I felt that I was valuing it too far above what I could do for other people. And so I wanted to tell everyone my truth.”
