Transgender Woman Found Dead in Dallas

Muhlaysia Booker, a transgender woman from Dallas, TX was shot, found “deceased from homicidal violence,” on early Saturday morning. Booker was the victim in a violent attack earlier in April in the parking lot of a residential apartment complex after she accidentally backed into a car. After a gun was pulled on her, men in the crowd that gathered began to hit and kick her, leaving her with a concussion and other injuries, all which was filmed on video. The man arrested in the April attack, Edward Thomas, has not been linked to Ms. Booker’s homicide according to Dallas Police Major Vincent Weddington. At this time, the Dallas Police are currently asking the public to come forward with any information of either crime to help bring closure. Commenting on both occasions, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings stated that he is “extremely angry about what appears to be mob violence against this woman. Those who did this do not represent how Dallasites feel about our thriving LGBTQ community. We will not stand for this kind of behavior,” and was “deeply saddened” to learn of her death.
