In 2018 the Trump Administration proposed regulation to the healthcare system that would allegedly “protect” provider’s religious and moral beliefs. In short, they’re trying to allow discrimination by doctors and other healthcare providers based on their beliefs, something we’ve seen attempted in other aspects of social services. People in the LGBT community also pay for healthcare and taxes, just like everyone else, why shouldn’t they have access to the same level of service and availability? The rules laid out by the administration’s regulation is very similar to what 12 states have used to deny healthcare service to the LGBT community, utilizing broad definitions that could affect a large number of people. The regulation has not yet been published in the Federal Register or put on public display but can be viewed at this link.
