UK’s Eurovision entry is announced

SuRie – real name Susanna Mari Cork – will represent the UK in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her song Storm.

SuRie beat five other shortlisted contestants to win the nomination after a combined public and jury vote.

SuRie is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and has sung backing vocals for Will Young and Chris Martin from Coldplay.

She has appeared on the Eurovision stage before, providing backing vocal for Belgian act Loïc Nottet in 2015, and Blanche in 2017.

After her win SuRie said she would celebrate with “a bottle of something bubbly and a straw”.

The Eurovision Song Contest final takes place in Lisbon on 12 May.
