Wanda Sykes was recently asked about the audience members who walked out of Amy Schumer’s show. If you haven’t heard, at a recent Schumer show, a number of attendees were offended when she was making jokes about Trump and left the show. Sykes was asked what she thought about the incident.
Sykes admitted that she wasn’t surprised at the reaction. “I’ve performed all over the country and I’ve had Trump supporters walk out on my show.” But she is surprised that Trump loyalists make the choice to go to her shows.
“It always cracks me up when they boo and tell me to move on saying, ‘That’s enough.’ First of all, I’m a black, gay woman. What the hell are you doing here?” Sykes states.
She adds that these folks are just out of place. “It’s like why would I go to a Trump rally and be like, ‘Hey! I don’t like all this bad mouthing of Hillary. I like Mexicans!’”
Sykes continues: “just the arrogance that they think they can come to my show and tell me what to say. I’m like, get the f**k out of here man. What is wrong with y’all?”
The comedienne has a new special airing on PIX TV called What Happened … Ms. Sykes? And she is very proud of and humbled by her extraordinary professional and personal successes.
‘I just thought about it: Here I am, openly gay … African-American and I’m legally married in all 50 states and I’m a parent. It’s like how did this happen?”
